Sam graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May 2020 with a B.S. in chemistry. While there, she developed synthetic routes to antibiotic adjuvants under Dr. Christian Melander. Additionally, as an undergraduate she performed synthesis as a visiting student in the Freeman Group at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, the Hergenrother Group at UIUC, and the Tong Group at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Sam returned to the Hergenrother Group as a Springborn Fellow in the fall of 2020 to work on the synthesis of an anticancer natural product.
